4WD Outback Gold Trail Adventure
Overview
The 'Unimog' adventure vehicles are the ultimate in transport. These very serious 4WD vehicles enable you to go places that other drivers can only dream of! The vehicles full-view passenger cabin with its fully transparent roof & sides enables you to enjoy the raw grandeur of the majestic landscapes you can now visit.
The vehicle provides a comfortable ride without the rough & tumble of other 4WDs. With seating capabilities of up to seventeen passengers, our adventure vehicles are supplied with a local driver with extensive knowledge of the country to ensure that you get to those often unheard of places that are the true New Zealand experience.
Your driver can also instruct you in off-road driving techniques so that you can also enjoy the excitement & adventure of driving the vehicle off-road yourself.
These trips are not on a purpose built track. We will follow stage coach trails built in the 1860s and stopping at points of historical, landform & recreational interest. You can choose the amount of adrenalin you want, by the difficulty level of the trail you chose. You'll experience the challenges and thrills of the 1860s gold miners, but in comfort!
We will drive down canyons, across rivers and through rainforest tracks. Your guides are local 4WD enthusiasts who are passionate about the history and ecology of the area. Many of them are descendants of the first goldminers and they'll take you to their own gold claims.
