Join us for the most amazing marine mammal experience the Bay of Islands has to offer. Travel among the beautiful Bay of Islands and spend time with dolphins, whales, fish sea birds, penguins and other wildlife in their natural environment. Marine mammal viewing guaranteed - or next trip for free.

Swimming is not available on every trip as we operate under a permit from the Department of Conservation which restricts interaction in some situations such as when dependent calves are present in a pod. We supply wetsuits, snorkels, masks and fins. For the trip we use our modern high speed catamaran with easy access to the water for swimming. Hot showers are provided.

Our customers enjoy a 98% success rate of spotting dolphins and whales!

Location

Paihia (Northland - North Island)

This experience departs from Paihia and Russell in the Bay of Islands. This is located approximately 3.5 hours from Auckland.

Numbers

We operate with a maximum of 105 passengers on the boat although only 53 passengers are allowed to swim with the dolphins.

From October 1 - April 30 Departure from Paihia: 8.00am & 12.30pm from Russell:8.10am & 12.40pm Duration 4 hrs. From May 1 - September 30 Combo with Discover the Bay 'Hole in the Rock' trip. Departure from Paihia 9.00am & 1.30pm 10 min later from Russell

Guidelines & Restrictions

We welcome everyone on board but, the trip may be less suitable for very young children and we don't have room for pushchairs. We suggest you wear swimming clothes under other clothes, bring a towel and a warm jacket.

Swimmers need to be able to swim well enough to look after themselves in the water. Each child must be accompanied in the water by an adult and swim at skippers discretion. Optional extra swim price - pay on board ($30), pay only cruise fare if you don't swim
