Rangitoto Volcanic Explorer Tour

Location: Auckland

Activity Code: FLLS101

Overview

Overview

Your tour starts when you board the ferry from the downtown Auckland ferry terminal and enjoy a 25 minute cruise across the Waitemata Harbour to Rangitoto Island. The Island sits majestically just off the Auckland coast, is a 600 year old volcano that boasts a unique landscape of rugged lava crops, lush native bush and sandy coves.

On arrival at the ferry terminal, your island ranger guide will greet you as you leave the ferry, and direct you to the tour vehicle nearby.

Once on board, you will journey through the rugged bush, whilst our guide talks to you about the history and geology of the island. We'll reach the base of the summit to then take a 10-15 minute walk to the summit along a wooden boardwalk with steps to the very top with stunning 360 degree views of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf islands. After taking in the panoramic views, you rejoin the tour vehicle for the return trip to the wharf, which takes in the western side of the island.

At the conclusion of the tour, you will be dropped back at the wharf for your return ferry ride to Auckland city.
